AboutÂ
Welcome. I’m Matt, a psychotherapist and counsellor living and working on Wurundjeri Country in Naarm (Melbourne).

I established Soul Terrain Psychotherapy for people seeking to move through distress, understand themselves more deeply, and reconnect with what feels authentic and meaningful in their lives.

Soul Terrain reflects the idea that we each have an inner landscape, shaped by our experiences, relationships, identity, culture and the world around us. Sometimes we can lose our bearings. Therapy offers a space to understand this terrain—what has shaped you, what may be keeping you stuck, and where you want to go next.

While everyone's experience is different, my lived experience as a member of the queer community informs my commitment to LGBTIQA+ affirming and culturally responsive practice, with curiosity and respect for the different identities, cultures, relationships and ways of understanding the world that each person brings.

My approach is collaborative, supportive and gently challenging. Together, we can make sense of where you’ve been, navigate where you are now, and find a path towards the life you want to live.

I am fully qualified to support you. I hold a Masters of Psychotherapy & Counselling, a BA in Psychology (Anthropology Major) and am a registered PACFA practitioner.

Challenge
Change can mean stepping beyond what feels familiar. Together, we’ll explore new perspectives and gently try different ways of being.
Respect
Respect for the expertise you hold in your story, your inner resources, and the agency you have in your healing. I will support, not direct.
Safety
I understand trauma and how it impacts others - I will respect your need for taking it slow and follow your lead in exploring difficult terrain
Compassion
Everyone is shaped by their experiences, often beyond their control. You will not be judged for your history, it is your future I am invested in.
Curiosity
This is my default position - I am always deeply interested in the experiences and stories of the people i work with.
what you can expect from me
